Obtaining Licences

Bar Licence (Temporary Event Notice)

A TEN must be applied for from Purbeck District Council if we wish to sell alcohol at an event. The licensing department at Worgret House are always really helpful if you have any queries.

There is some explanatory information from Purbeck District Council below, but it basically goes like this:

From PDC (February 2008):

"Limitations:

If the TEN involves the sale of alcohol, the person giving the notice will be responsible for the sale or supply of the alcohol.

The Police may object to the TEN on the grounds of crime and disorder, but the objection must be lodged with the Licensing Authority within 48 hours of receipt of the notice.

Application forms and information about TENs are available here on the PDC website. You must complete 3 sets of forms, although if more convenient photocopies of a completed form are quite acceptable if preferred.

Two completed sets of application forms must then be returned to the Licensing Office, Purbeck District Council, at the address shown below, to arrive at least 10 working days prior to the event. The application must be accompanied by the fee of £21.00 preferably by way of a cheque.

On the same day the remaining completed application form must be forwarded to Mrs Caroline Wateridge, Licensing Officer, Dorset County Command Centre, Ferndown Police Station, Ameysford Road, Ferndown, Dorset, BH22 9HQ. Tel: 01202 226083 Fax: 01202 226175

If Dorset Police make no representation to the Council in respect of your application, one copy will be endorsed and returned to you as confirmation that proper notice of the event has been given."
