Welcome to the PTA website

Summer Fair 2009

Our Summer Fair takes place this year on Friday 3rd July, 6pm – 8pm. Please come and support us at our final fundraising event of this school year. It may only be two hours long but the Summer Fair 2009 will be twice as much fun with double the entertainment. As well as a licensed bar and hot food we have too many stalls to list here but you will find amongst your favourite tombolas lots of new games to play and plenty of gifts to buy. The two playgrounds and the field will be full of activity unless it should dare to rain in which case we will hold the event inside the school.

We hope to be joined by HM Coastguard, the Police and a Fire Engine obviously accompanied by firemen! We have entertainment from Lytchett Matravers School Choir and the Skipping and Dance Clubs and Lytchett Minster School Folk Group. We have activities run by Sturminster Marshall Golf Club and Lytchett Minster Rugby Club. Don’t miss Mr France’s appearance in “Soak the Teacher”. And finally for the first time ever we will be holding a Hopping Horse Derby – over our very own race course you can bounce your way to the winning line!

Also on Friday 3rd July please come and see the fantastic bunches of flowers that each child in the school has decorated as part of our Summer Fair Art Competition. Each class has made a bouquet. Can you find your flower? Which class do you think deserves to win the trophy?

The Summer Fair will be fun for all the family – we look forward to seeing you there. Thank you for your continuing support of the PTA.

The Uniform Shop

Unfortunately following our request for new volunteers to run the Uniform Shop no-one has come forward. Please note therefore that from September 2009 we will be changing the way in which parents are able to purchase school uniform. We are very grateful to Melanie Gill and Claire McKenzie for agreeing to continue to run the Uniform Shop but it will now be a 'mail order' only service.

A post-box and supply of order forms will be positioned in the main school entrance. Completed order forms and a cheque for the total value of all items ordered need to be posted in the box. Orders will be processed on a weekly basis. No orders should be handed in to either teachers or the school office staff. (The only exception to this rule will be items covered by the school uniform grant scheme details of which can be obtained from the office.) Goods will be delivered directly to your child in their classroom to bring home.

Hopefully this arrangement will run smoothly but please be understanding of any initial problems which may occur.

If anyone would like to consider taking over the running of the Uniform Shop, Claire and Mel can be contacted via the school office or PTA email address.

Latest News:

We are very pleased to say that as a result of our fundraising we are in the process this term of giving the school as requested £5000. This is being spent in three areas; on early years "discovery through play" items such as a kitchen set and 4 sided easel; on PE and sports equipment including hockey gear and hurdles and finally, as specially requested by School Council as part of their anti litter campaign, on new bins for the KS2 playground. We hope to be in receipt of these items soon and we should then be able to show you exactly how your generously donated money is being spent. Thank you once again for supporting your PTA!

Parent Consultation on changes to the curriculum

From the NCPTA: The government is proposing some important changes to the curriculum that your children experience in school, and is giving all those involved in education an opportunity to comment on the proposals. Your views as parents are very important to this process and the feedback you provide will be used by the government to inform its final decisions about these proposals.

The proposals are about:

This online consultation survey has been designed specifically for parents with help from the NCPTA. This is a Department for Children, Schools and Families consultation managed by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. The consultation closes on 24 July 2009.
